this guy was awfully sweet...he seems ready to reach over and nuzzle
me....the 20d and canon 17-85 combination seems to resolve excellent
detail in this example.
-
This guy was all too happy to pose for me. This was shot through
glass in the bird house at the national zoo.
-
had a nice trip to the national zoo yesterday, pulled a few nice
shots in the bird house...
-
Just took a trip to the zoo...starting to manage focus a little
better with the 20d and 70-300 combination
-
I altered the colors like the other guy but which crop works
better? Is this one not tight enough? Personally I like the range
of white gray black and then the way the contast reverses between
the clouds/sky and the spire/cross...
-
much more dramatic! thanks for the tip...

20d colors are great
-
Just a tad PP but I just can't get this damn 20d to focus for me...
-
Just can't get close enough for my taste, even with the 70-300, but
finally captured something with decent focus and DOF.

Just another one from the little lake by my house. Trash in the
water. I'm trying to convey the mirror effect from the water, but
find the tension from the objects sticking out also attracts my eye.

Colors not enhanced. Little bit of sharpening, that's about it. These plastic toys are just very colorful...
-
When I saw these leaf stems all pointing to the sky, it seemed like
a defeated Army. Or something. I got down low and close, shot from
two inches off the ground or so. I'd like to have more color
variety...
-
When I cropped this down, something nice came out.

I agree that the head in the foreground is distracting, but...its part of the story. This three star American general is a big deal. They know who he is. The rest of the people there are a mystery to them. That's why they seem perturbed.

This picture isn't technically very good, but the subject matter I
like very much. It was taken during a tour through the negotiations
hut at the Demilitarized Zone between the Koreas. The North Korean
soldiers are looking through a window, trying to see all the people
inside the hut. Wondering what was going on. Very intense.

At first I didn't think much of this picture. Then looked closer,
and saw the slight colored piece of a hidden lock in the bottom
middle. This is an attempt at a composition, it may or may not tell
a story. I don't think every photo has to.

There's something about the simplicity of this that I like. And the
blue makes for excellent contrast.

The cat is being very patient. He doesn't hate this, but it isn't
his favorite activity either.
Would more DOF have helped any, getting all my daughter's face into
focus as well? This closeup is not cropped at all.

It was thanksgiving, a cold day, no one else around at the lake. My daughter was throwing crackers.

I know this is a little dark, and would've liked to have been able to
present more detail of the birds, but any more flash fill adjustment
just washes it out (I think). Anyway, this seems to draw the eye
just a little in some direction. Not quite sure which. Thanks in
advance for any input.
