seismiccwave 0 Posted October 28, 2009 I post this really for El. She made a comment on one of my other images about that Kamuela house with the grey roof. So this is the Kamuela house with the grey roof at Kihi Kihi Place. Beautiful house but can't get a image of the front of the house without going to the air. So I did. This was taken with my radio control helicopter and the Sigma DP1. Thanks for your time. Your comments are welcome. Link to comment
elportebonheur 0 Posted October 28, 2009 That's the one, Hansen!!! Thank you very much! Fantastic idea to use the heli but how on earth you control the camera??? Thank you very much for the upload, I greatly appreciate. I'll come back to you to explain why this property is of particular interest to me. Thanks again for posting - have a nice day, El Link to comment
seismiccwave 0 Posted October 28, 2009 I use an intervalometer to fire the shutter once every 6 seconds. That's about how long the DP1 needs to write the image to the card. I just aim the helicopter and I get a feel from experience on how far to stage the helicopter for framing the subject. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted June 11, 2010 That's definitely a cheaper way then hiring a real helicopter but you have to be very confident to make it happen. It'll really be a mess for your D700 if it had crashed. Link to comment
seismiccwave 0 Posted June 11, 2010 Hi Alec, yes it is definitely a "real" helicopter. It has every single moving part to lift up a camera. It is simply a "smaller" real helicopter. ;-)As far as mess, I have put one of these miniature helicopter in the ocean and yes it rendered my D90 non-operable right away.;-)For aerial stills, I use my Sigma DP-1 which is what I used for this image. The image quality is superb and the best part is that it only weighs 9 ounces. Link to comment
