Nice face. The tree in this case looks a little incongruous. Especially with the greenery, which sort of clashes with the color of her skin...it is almost a complimentary, or opposite, color on the color wheel I think. If the bark were bare of the leaves I think it would be much better....it looks like indoor type portraiture done in an ouddoor setting to me. Yet, having said that, this lady has a cherubic and lovely smile and complexion of great healthy appeal. Probably why you posed this model in outdoor shade....

Another tjhing is that the greenery covers those slim elegant fingernails for viewers. I wish you well sncerely, and pardon any unwarranted or harshly seen criticism....a nice shot overall, but for those wee details I am looking for, like all critics!! aloha and best to you Gene...gs

Eugenio,

She is a pretty girl. You have focused well on her eyes. Her skin tones are very good. She has very good eye contact with the camera (viewer). I like the specular highlights on her lips. The background is nicely out of focus. She has well defined catch lights and a pleasant smile.

Her make-up is very good, but I think she could use a little eyeliner under her eyes to make then stand out more. You do not want her hair to be falling across her eyes.

There is just too much tree trunk in the photograph. It does not balance well with the girl. It is odd that the trunk is turned at an angle. I am also not thrilled with the greenery in her face.

I like the way your have posed her hand (with its side towards the viewer), but I would show the connection to her forearm and not have the hand just pop out from behind the tree.

It is too bad that she is wearing a short sleeve shirt. Her bare arm draws attention away from her face. Her head is turned at an almost 90 degree angle to her shoulders. Square angles are not feminine and the angle is very awkward looking.

For some reason you have blurred the bottom part of her shirt and the tree. The blurring draws attention away from her face.

The lighting on her face is soft and pretty, but it is a bit flat. You want the main light to come from above, in front and to her side. The ideal location for the catch lights would be at about the 10 or 2 o'clock position on her irises. Judicious use of shadows on her face can help create interest and the illusion of depth within your photograph. You have two catch lights in each eye. One catch light per eye is preferred. If you have multiple catch lights, only one should be dominant.

The compositional balance of the girl's face is really quite good. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. She is very close to that location.

Nice shot,

Mark

I only want to add that I find the lighting a fairly pleasant result, even as it is most direct and just a smidge high which is not bad at all. It still provided countours to the face and some shadow in the neck which makes her lovely face even more pronounced. I am not always in favor of the broad or short lighting idea. In this case, I doubt you could have giveb her more light. The pose, well we have talked about that enough. I have seen odder combinations with trees and fences and the like. She is so perky, and adorable. Wow, those are some earring hoops and she can get away with them too....aloha, gs
