Another view taken on a different day with a 17-40L lens. My attempt to get the painted effect was not as successful as I hoped for but I did manage to include the fall of water. This lens is super sharp, I am not as connected with it as my 24-105 which I use 90% of the time and know exactly where to set it for the effect I want. There are a few areas that are blown and I decided not to correct. Other than a bit of shadow/highlight and resizing this is as shot.

I prefer this view because of the inclusion of the water which completes the picture and makes the colors even more beautiful. My 16-35mm lens if a favorite and I use it about 50% of the time for landscapes.

Pamela, you caputured some increadable colour and contrast here especially as its presented as shot. Very impresse. I like the inclustion of the water. You have just the right camera hight to get the top of water fall which I find good. Its has with the blow outs on the running water but looks very good. I have just added a ND8 grad to my filters kit. you could also reverse a Hard ND grad here very effectivly. REgards Carl

Pamela, I tend to prefer this one too. But both are great. You have inspired me, since I have though of going to that weir sometime for photos. Great job.

Pamela,

This is a lovely image - the best I've seen of this subject. I enjoyed looking through your portfolio - You have a great eye for composition and beauty. It seems we have visited many of the same locations. I live in Seabeck, a little community west of Seattle. Thank you too for your recent comment on my whale photo. That photo was taken while conducting a photo tour in S.E. Alaska. I just posted a very exciting 2010 schedule of photo tours on my website - check it out at www.donpaulson.com.

Best Regards,

I really like the contrast between the vivid fall colours with the soft textures and the straight lines and harsher whites of the waterfall, a real treat to the eye, Great Shot!

Kind Regards

Of course we all see things a little differently and personally I subscribe to 'less is more' when it comes to these two images. I find the white highlights at the bottom of this version slightly distracting, however it is still an excellent photo.

Indeed, as Shawn says, good idea to include the water in the overall composition. Starting very lively in the fg and ending up with a potpurri of autumn colors. Chapeau, really nice work!

The scene has a great beauty, nature is at this time the best model for the photographer. Congratulations, best wishes. Vicente.
