I have the impression many of our peers will not give the same value to a 'free chance' photo as they would if the photographer suffered painstakingly to capture the image. A few years ago I read of a well published professional photographer known for macro images of little flowers. Now retired he admitted most of his photos were taken within sight of his car. He explained if he had freely shared this fact from the beginning he may not have achieved the same level of acceptance as he did!

 

How easy it would be to tell the viewer how you 'Hiked for miles, hid within a blind for days, all for just this one priceless image!' Kudos for letting us in on your secret and thank you.

 

I love this image. Elk cross my property throughout the year, but I never get to see a bull like this one. I think 'my' elk are all cows choosing a quiet place to rest and raise their young, so I try to not disturb them. I want a good photo of the babies but I also do not want to upset the mothers.

 

Perhaps just a tad more contrast will make him pop.
