wogears 186 Posted October 22, 2009 Simple, straightforward and lovely. Good skin work, excellent sharpening on the eyes. The little bit of earring on her right side bothers me. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted October 23, 2009 Tore, She is a very beautiful girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. She has very good eye contact with the camera (viewer). The background is nicely out of focus. Her make-up is extremely well applied. Her hair is well styled and her necklace is centered. She is angled nicely to the camera. The light on her hair helps to separate her from the background and is not overly bright. Her skin tone is wonderful and she has a very pleasant expression. The composition and contrast is excellent. She is wearing a nice dark plain outfit which allows her face to be the focus of the photograph. I love the specular highlights on her lips. The lighting is a bit flat, but her wonderful use of make-up helps hide this. Judicious use of shadows on her face can help create interest and the illusion of depth within your photograph. Be careful of double catch lights. One catch light per eye is preferred. The bright area in the background directly above her left eye draws my attention away from her face. Because the white area is not centered, it also makes your subject look off center. This is a beautiful example of what a head and shoulders portrait should look like -- congratulations. Nice shot, Mark Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted October 24, 2009 You know, I could pick this apart.........for the sake of technicalities....or 'just because'.................but WHY? and I know there will be dozens who'd argue with me.....'the whole point of PN.....etc' But more and more I'm finding life 'quite too short'..........sure we should strive for the best..........but what I see here is a beautiful young woman........great facial features, lovely eyes..... And somehow the few things in the DOF that I could allow to distract me from this georgeous face.......are of no significance to me.............your lighting and skin tones are great......I won't say perfect......but how often do we see 'perfection'?? Her mouth is a wee bit crooked........but it just adds to the 'minx' like qualities I see in her. I imagine she has a great sense of humour, and the fact that she is so comfortable in front of the camera is a big plus. I'm no expert..........don't really want to be........just glad I wake up on the 'right side of the grass each day'.........and I have the opportunity to view such lovley 'results' on PN..............or I could be an unfortunate living in a country torn by the ravages of weather, poverty or violence.........critiques are not suppossed to be theoretical.........but for some reason.........I'm seeing quite a few things in a different perspective in the wee hours of this morning....great shot....she is a 'beauty'..........congrats, Gail Link to comment
eddy1 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Excellent portrait. I probably would have reduced the light as it tends to wash out some details and even distract a little, esp with the shadow on the forehead. Link to comment
