alfbailey 1 Posted October 19, 2009 The light wasn't really divine, it was right in my face and too bright, but the title kinda suits the subject I think. I tried toning it down with a couple of ND Grad Filters and I have cropped the far right of the picture as that was too bright. Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated. Thank you Alf Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted October 20, 2009 Wonderful! This has a surreal quality to it. The sky and the cross look to me like something Salvidor Dali painted. This is very striking and dramatic. Very well done. Best wishes, Linda Link to comment

johnroberts 0 Posted October 20, 2009 Therer is a nice crisp clarity to this image. I have seen quite a few shots from this angle of Llanddwyn and this stands out. Regards...John Link to comment

carlwakefield 0 Posted October 20, 2009 The results look great, the colours work but obviously don't look 100% natural but it a really super shot the light direction works really well. I would how it would be as BW. I like the cross with the two light houses in the background. Well done. Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted October 20, 2009 LINDA, SENOL, KEITH, GALLEGO, JOHN, FERNANDO, CARL AND ZSOLT Thank you all so much for taking the time to comment, it really is appreciated. As I'm sure John would testify this really is a magical place for photography, and whilst I was processing the photo, I was torn between leaving it very natural, or saturating some of the highlights to give it that surreal kind of quality, as you can see I opted for the surreal look, I will be posting a B&W version Carl at some time in the not too distant future, or at least adding one to my portfolio. Thank you all again for your kind words of encouragement. Kind Regards Alf Link to comment
gardena 0 Posted October 21, 2009 Another age and place. It is almost as if you made a time trip and came back with this! Link to comment

alfbailey 1 Posted October 21, 2009 Thank you both so much for stopping bye, my trip to Llandwwyn Island was a bit like time travel, the history of the place is absolutely fascinating. The name Llanddwyn means "The church of St. Dwynwen". She is the Welsh patron saint of lovers, making her the Welsh equivalent of St. Valentine. Her feast day, 25 January, is often celebrated by the Welsh with cards and flowers, just as is 14 February for St. Valentine. Dwynwen lived way back in the 5th century and was one of 24 daughters of St Brychan. her story itself makes for very interesting reading. There is also a lot of maritime history associated with the area, but far too much for me to type on here. Thanks again for your kind and encouraging words Best Regards Alf Link to comment
isako 0 Posted October 22, 2009 Even If you did have sore eyes afterwards, it was definately worth it !! Amazing colours and brilliant composition. With kind regards, Isabelle Link to comment
thadley 14 Posted October 23, 2009 A wonderful scene, a great composition - you have a great cross positioned between two lighthouses with lovely light and colors. The cross points to the glorious heavens as perhaps a third beacon of light in the direction of heaven. A very good image from my perspective. Red, like blood, attracts your eye and this dominant color in the foreground grass grabs my eye and there is a part f me wishing it was a little subdued - just my tastes. Thanks for your very generous input on one of my images - truly appreciated. best of luck and keep up the good work as I poke around your portfolio for the first time. Link to comment

alfbailey 1 Posted October 26, 2009 Thank you all so much for taking the time to stop and comment, it really does mean a lot to me. Tony, on reflection I have to agree with you, the foreground tuft of grass is rather over saturated and may have looked a shade more credible if I had resisted the temptation to leave it like this and toned it down a bit, a classic case of "less is more" maybe. Thanks again everyone Best Regards Alf Link to comment

normanjnorman 0 Posted December 20, 2009 this is lovely. saturation looks natural. i think you got plenty of exposure and pull it down a bit. i am finding that if you underexpose and p/p correct the colours go metallic. what do you think you did to get this one so right. oh and the composition's brilliant and the connotations very very nice. sadeghmiri 1 Posted January 12, 2010 I didn't know that you have rated one of my recent submissions and when I wanted to rate your photo I got this message "The owner of this photo has rated 1 of your photos with a 7 during the last fourteen days; and you aren't allowed to reciprocate so soon." I think and believe that this capture deserves the highest rating because you have created such a wonderful composition and controlled the light in a very professional way . A fantastic landscape!10/10 Best regards Sadegh Link to comment
