Vincenzo,

The background seems very strange for a portrait taken in Naples Botanic Garden? I do not like the object going into where her eye would be.

The composition of this image is really quite good. I don't understand this being an attempt at a portrait. If you said it was an experimental photograph or an art photograph I could understand.

Perhaps I have totally misunderstood what your intent was or what this photograph is going to be used for -- its purpose.

I guess I don't really know how to approach critiquing your photograph. If you would give further information about this picture I would appreciate it and try to comment.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark, you're right. I should be clearer.

Well, this club has set up a photo session in the botanic garden. There where also models to let us practice in portrait shot. We have been lucky enough to have a nice rainy day, so at least in the beginning of the session we started to shot under a ceiling. The background of this shot in a wall. I've said to be my first attempts of portrait meaning portrait of a model, I usually shot portrait of nx lovely wife and my baby girl, so this has been a kind of new experience to face a model and freeze an expression/emotion without any personal feeling (read relationship). I'm not a pro photographer, but I do love photography and I like to experiment. You see, it was quite original for a model session since we were about 30 photographers, all aimed to take a photo to the same model, see the folder. Eventually the rain's finished and we were able to have a garden as background. Cheers, Vince
