leo burkey 0 Posted October 11, 2009 This was taken last month on my New Mexico-Arizona photographic trip with Chris Harris. We had been driving all day and arrived at the White Sands dunes not long before sunset. Not only were we tired and hot, the temperature had been in the mid 90s all day, there hadn't been a cloud in the sky all day. We had resigned ourselves to this fact when all of a sudden a storm starting brewing near the distant mountains. It wasn't long before we were treated to stormy clouds, lightning and distant rain. A photographer just couldn't ask for more, although I would have love to have captured some lightning too. Nonetheless, I am very please with this image. By the way, that night when we were driving to our motel, we were very bummed out as we believe that our photography that evening had been a bust. Link to comment

hopsage 0 Posted October 12, 2009 Regarding the post-exposure work. the image looks a bit over-sharpened to my eyes, especially along the horizon and the right-hand ridge of the foreground dune. However, it's a sweet composition, and a brilliant capture. Link to comment
willy_paglilla 0 Posted October 13, 2009 There is something very nice and intriguing in this picture. I like a lot the change of tones. Link to comment
rbanfield 0 Posted October 13, 2009 ...pure aces. the shadows from the clouds playing on fields of pure white sands and with that rather ominous black cloud letting go with a little rain what's not to like. Sorry I can only give you a 7/7...Lefty Link to comment
gardena 0 Posted October 14, 2009 I love the way the smoothness of the sand contrasts with the drama of the sky! Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted October 31, 2009 Fascinating capture, Leo. Very different and dramatic. I love the sharpness and composition. Beautifully done. Link to comment
