gsphotoguy 3 Posted October 31, 2009 A simple nude portrait. This was made at a workshop with lighting they set up. There was a beauty dish above and a softbox on the floor with white panels on the sides. There is also a gelled light on the background which adds a little interest in B&W. Link to comment
je ne regrette rien 67 Posted October 31, 2009 The pose shows some above average originality, the model looking into the camera. What is not so pleasant is the direct, harsh illumination from the front, which creates the blown out spots. Aesthetics 4, originality 5. Link to comment
kallol 1 Posted October 31, 2009 Very good lighting and nice pose... but the look is not very pleasing... Any ways, nice capture... Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted November 1, 2009 I tend to agree with Luca on this one. That said, I do love her starteled expression. I look forward to more. Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted November 2, 2009 Thank you all for the thoughtful comments. As I said, the lighting in this particular place was set by the workshop. Since there were others shooting at the same time I couldn't very well modify it for me. I have photographed Cassie in natural light where I can position her to get light and shadows where I want. There are examples in my gallery on photo.net as both Cassie and Cassandra. I do like those better but wanted to see what people thought of this one. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 3, 2009 I like the model & have worked with her. If you really want a critique, I have a few comments. The pose is a cliche. It is not interesting in any way. The lighting is boring, and too bright at the bottom. The 3 items of jewelry detract. The pose is supposed to be glamorous, but the light is too hard on the face and the makeup inadequate for glamor. Nonetheless going to workshops like these are very helpful. Be merciless in your self criticism and it gets better. Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted November 3, 2009 Bruce - Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I considered for a while even posting this for critique but figured it was worth hearing what others had to say. As I said, I have many others of Cassie that I like better. The workshop format has worked for me in allowing me to explore nude photography with others around to help. I will continue there and on my own and we'll see wharer it leads. - Mark Link to comment
