After so many long days sailing in the Atlantic Ocean, there is aharbor where sailors from all around the world stop and take a fewdays to check equipment and just relax. Historically the port of Hortahas been a meeting point for people with a passion for the sea. Havinga passion means sharing experiences, emotions and hopes. This is thespirit, and from that spirit an artistic and picturesque communicationtool was created—the paintings of Horta.

There are thousands of paintings through the old and new marine walls, sidewalks, trash bins...everywhere. It's possible to feel that messagebetween colours and words, painted by someone who wants to tell theworld about his wonderful experience. The paintings show funnyanimals, strange gods, unbelievable maps, creatures from dreams, marine monsters and it's impossible to make a complete list. Often wecan read the crew's names and their date of departure. Sometimes theyhave been sailing for years.

Legend says that one who doesn't leave a painting on Horta wallswon't reach their destination.

Thank you!

Gran historia y sentido del lugar (6), pero estéticamente le veo que tiene demasiado "efecto HDR" que le resta realismo y abajo demasiados defectos de clonado que deterioran la imagen, hasta cuatriplicados.

Jose Antonio Caso,

After a closer look at this photo I realize what you see as cloning is probably the result of the contrast I have applied, since there wasn't any use of clone stamp. The canvas aren't that perfect after all...

I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your appreciation of this image. Thank you very much indeed, Anabela

Thank you, Mehmet. You are all too kind. And yes, I have already been in Turkey. Istanbul is by far my most favourite city.

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement.

I did get your Email Anabela.......thank you for thinking of me and writing to let me know the beautiful and wonderous destinations you shall set foot upon......I truly hope you made a few beautiful 'strokes' among these marvelous tales of travel. I am not a superstitous person, but I look forward with anticipation to any images you may post of your future travels.

I wish you safe travels, good 'wind', steady footsteps, magnificent dark nights filled with all the stars in the galaxy to keep you company......and most of all - God's protection as you meet the many strangers that cross your path. I saw some words on a card once, and they have always stuck with me, "Perhaps God is a Poet......who writes with words of flesh and bone and leaf and flower".....it seemed so beautiful.........as you travel through God's Manuscript perhaps He will 'jot' a few words about my friend whose name to me sounds like a beautiful song. Take care of my Friend Lord.....she is one of your 'Gems' and I've come to appreciate her so much.

She takes me to the beautiful places you've created.......ones I know I shall never see in person.........but she spreads your beauty all over our world through this wonderful community of Photo.Net..........God Bless Anabela....sent with love and friendship, Gail.

Dear Gail, a BIG thank you for being so supportive! Your tender words touched my heart very deeply. I consider myself lucky to be your friend.

I give away my secure life and my career to explore the world and myself . I use each day to work on becoming a better person. Everyone has faults and weaknesses, I like to expose mine, overcome them. Look forward to constantly improving life, not just for me but for those I encounter as well. Travel the world is not only enjoyment, there are moments I feel extremely alone and miserable. Now I know when those feelings come over me I will always remember the encouraging words of my friend Gail. Friendly regards, Anabela

Hey.......what are friends for??? Although I'm 'a world away', the same sky is over us all.....I admire your bravado Anabela.......not everyone has the 'backbone' to live life so 'exposed'.......and on the edge I imagine at times. Just keep those images coming.........'you are my vacation'.......LOL....Gail

I write this here........as I wonder where you are in my 'wee small hours of my morning Anabela'......I pray you are well, you are safe, and if you are sleeping....a smile is on your face.

Your Christmas Email from Borneo was so WELCOME!!.............I feel like I wear a 'charm bracelet' and you are one of the many Gems on it....the only thing is....I cannot get in touch with you the same...........but if you do see this on one of your days you 'connect'......know that I think of you often..........and pray for your safe return......the world is beautiful........but it is not always the safest place. Pleasant dreams, wherever you are................Gail
