billkantor 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Meir, I like it. I am toying with cropping to produce a horizonless landscape. It amplifies the feeling of confusion which is what I felt on first viewing. Not sure if that was your intent. Anyway, I like the image both ways. Best, Bill Link to comment

heider 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Very interesting architectural composition! Very well captured indeed. The horizon-less cropped version is also successful IMHO. This composition can be easily seen as a total chaos. It the result of organic growth, in mere architectural terms this is called “regular irregularity””, that is when irregular compositions starts to follow higher and hidden orders that tend to unify the whole, and that’s why when one compares any two parts of such compositions one cant see much difference, yet its totally different. Such compositions embrace a contradicted essence in its formation making them so interesting and original in my opinion. Many samples can be seen in nature. Take this photo from NG, each dune by itself looks so irregular, the collective effect of this irregularity is strangely regular, that is because the intervention of a higher order; the same wind that sculpted the parts so irregularly sculpted the whole in such harmony. The simplest explanation is that the universe has a tendency towards unity and balance. Really nice work and I am definitely saving this photo, really worth 1000 words. Kind Regards. Link to comment
myattphotoandfotoart39 1 Posted October 7, 2009 I thought earlier to remark that the photo "jerusalm" is total chaos in line with the rest of the middle east.. but I thoght better of it. I understand your explantion about the dunes. Is math your field? I still hold that the entrophy of the universe is increasing. Is that consistant with "unity and balance"? I don't know.
