alfbailey 2 Posted October 4, 2009 When we arrived at Ribblehead it was 4.45pm an excited gentleman seeing the camera equipment, explained to to us "One of the old steam trains is due at about 5.00pm" We thanked him for the information got our gear set up and waited...and waited........and waited.......Maybe it was a ghost train thats why we didn't see it! What we did see looked ok though, Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated ! Thank you ! Alf Link to comment
johnroberts 0 Posted October 5, 2009 I can see what you mean Alf, a steam train coming across with the smoke billowing out would be the icing on the cake for this shot. I do like your view point and the textures of the f/g grasses looking towards the bridge with the wondeful arches stretching out into the distance. John Link to comment

cphilpott 0 Posted December 6, 2009 Well done, even without the train. This type of construction in the landscape is one of the reasons I would love to visit your region one day. Link to comment

garethleyland 0 Posted February 18, 2012 Hi Alf, your comment on my ghost image brought me to viewing your images and my eye was drawn to this. Then I hunted for the ghost train! You have done a splendid job here finding a unique angle to view this famous viaduct. The colours and contrast make a very pleasing image. The steam trains still run on limited days (bank holidays etc) but you wouldn't get an unspoilt image like this, photographers by their dozens would get in the way.Best regardsGareth. alfbailey 2 Posted February 19, 2012 Many thanks for your interest and positive feedback. I have also photographed this in the snow, but I have to say it isn't an easy place to photograph. I was never satified with the results. I can imagine that the place is somewhat inundated with photographers when theres an old steam due, I guess the lack of them when we were there should have been enough to conclude the obvious : - )Cheers GarethAlf Link to comment
