I can think of a couple of things that would have made this a more interesting shot, Colton. If you had used a bright color or lighter color for the blanket, it would have bounced some light into the face and left the child without the kind of stark shadows under her chin. Even a flowered bedspread would have done the job. As for the antlers or horns, I think NOT so appropriate...unless mommy dearest INSISTED. (Yes I see the camo' outfit, but it does not enhance the overall, for me anyhow.) Well, you have asked for candid comments and I hope others will offer theirs and take issue with me and tell why.... I make no apologies for having first glance opinions as a parent and lover of kids -most of the time when they don't need their naps..... I wish you well in your portraits of the munchkins....they are a challenge, aren't they?. The pose is cute as is the child..If the parents are cool with it,,bravo! Wishing you well, gs

I do like this shot. My only beef is with the composition. I would have put more space above the baby's head so she wasn't touching the horn. I would have cloned out the horn in the lower right corner. Other than that, this is very cute!

Thank you for yalls comments. I added the antlers into the photo because myself and the models parents are hunters. My intentions were to show all of the antlers but the rug wasn't big enough (since im a wildlife photographer and not a portrait photographer, I don't have a studio backdrop so we used a blanket). This was shot with one flash which would explain the shadow under her chin. I used a dark rug because I thought it would look for outdoorsy with the combination of the camo. I absolutley don't think you are being to harsh. I put this photo in the critique forum to get critique and that's exactly what I got. Once again thanks!
