luciani 0 Posted October 5, 2009 I like this shot a lot, but if I can say my opinion, I think that the protagonist of this shot (the dog of course) is to much in the centre. I think it would give it another type of effect leaving it 2/3 from the centre. But even like that, I think this photo deserves a 6 for originality. Great idea, and thanks for sharing. sallydouglas 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Hi Carlo... I really like this shot... I speaks loud and clear as to the tranquility of the occasion... The thing I like the most is it makes me want to see the expression on this little ones face... Just the stance and the position of his little ears gives me an inkling into what his thoughts are... I bet he's a happy little chap indeed... I disagree with the previous comment... I think cropping it down to the standard 2/3 rule would detract from the shot... Both the left and right expanses of water contribute towards the telling of this story....This image is not just about Rocco, its about the capturing of the entire scene... Congratulation on a very nice photo... Sally... Link to comment
cocasana 0 Posted October 6, 2009 Thanks Kurt, I really appreciate yours :) !!! Thanks Simone, I must admit I already know the rather well known 1/3 or 2/3 rule, but I'm not that fond of rules. Thanks Sally. You got the point of this shot. As I'm trying to complete an anatomical study of Rocco (every angle, every expression), BG can be important every now and then... ;-) Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted October 6, 2009 Hello Carlo - Fine shot here in my view. I like the composition as is as well. The mix of cool and warm colors is always appealing to the eye, but I'm wondering if there is a bit too much blue on the dog. I realize shadows appear blue on a white dog, but I'm still thinking more color separation from the dock would be nice - perhaps just a shade lighter. Best, David Link to comment
cocasana 0 Posted October 7, 2009 Hi David, thanks for stopping and commenting. Rocco looks a bit bluish bcause shadows appear blue on a white dog as you say but also, because I've "neutralized" him (via blur->average) at 30%. Link to comment
