To my eye, dear friend, this could be the portrait of a reposing Roman centurion! (the red T-shirt helps a lot to this impression!) I particularly like the directional side lighting , which coming laterally from above gives a superb 3-dimentionality. One more pearl to your thread of stunning portraits. Compliments and regards,Chris

Wonderful portrait!

Very strong and characterful;

Keeping this strong armsoo in view in the composition was a great thing to do

However I have to say I think it as even more potential in it.

My opinion :

- first of all I find the background totaly in conflict with the man and his presentation. Strong healty man, dressed simply, such force in his mind and body ... and he stands in front of a pricy luxe wooden panel in exotic wood like we see in luxe cars. And besides this conflict in nature, the attention is driven away from the guy to explore this background (made to get much attention).

- Secondly I find there is a little too much red in the colors, wich becomes too much because te great red T-shirt he wears looses his contrast function.

Then , the light you use is very good and expressive, but in the dark zones there is a loss of essential detail ... in particular in the exppressive and focussed eyes.

at last, the space above his head doesn't bring a plusvalue to the composition, and so the eyes end up too close to the middle.

I made a personal version. If you don't like me to do so, please tell me, and I will not do it again.

I think this portrait deserves also a great BW version.

for my included version I have to say It was done rather fast, and on a very smal photo, so not perfect The selection could be done much more carefully, and for the new crop there was not much possibility to make much choice.

Zaista odličan portrait. Moram priznati da je Piet uočio neke mogućnosti vrijedne razmišljanja..
