aarkp 2 Posted September 24, 2009 a lovely balanced composition -- the key to its success for me is the reflected silver light of the LCD screen... and then the index finger poised over it... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 24, 2009 Thank you for noticing this one. I thought it had a lot to say, but I've been quite amazed at the lack of response. I'm really quite curious as to why it does not seem to resonate with anybody else. But, I, too, very much enjoyed the play of the light from the screen reflecting off of the fingers of the man, almost like one of those religious pictures with a halo of light around the angel's head or the baby Jesus. And, in a way, the Iphone and similar devices may be the Bibles of tomorrow. I also liked the shape of the left hand thumb with its graceful curvature. Thanks for your thoughts. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted September 25, 2009 I did a short series on "Hands at Work" once and now I wish I had included an image such as this one. Just how close and personal did you have to get with this person in order to get the shot? Nice capture. Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted September 25, 2009 Excellent, the light reflected from the LCD on the fingers produces a ghostly effect fitting for the ghostly technical world we have created. Perhaps the reason that this hasn't attracted much comment is that for many younger viewers the action has become so commonplace that they no longer even take notice of it. For we old geezers it speaks of things that have come to pass in our lifetime, that still pique our curiousity and evoke an emotional response. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted October 5, 2009 what, I go on vacation for two weeks and you upload a bunch of photos? Good boy :-) I also like this image...yes, it's especially the light that makes it interesting. Do you think it would be worth of trying to do a shot like this in a dark room and have the light illuminate also the face (and have the face in the frame, of course)? Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 5, 2009 I actually did an image like you suggested. It is not too hot, but I'm going to work on it a bit. The Sony is a result of my second Nikon pocket camera taking a dump. They simply have not held up. I'm still Nikon all the way on the SLR, but I'm fed up with low quality digital pocket cameras that cost too damn much money. They do a good job, but one every six months doesn't cut it. So I'll try the Sony for awhile and see what happens. Good to hear from you. Link to comment
laurent_jaussi 0 Posted October 13, 2009 I find the light out from the phone on the hand to bring a special mood of secrecy...communication means are everywhere and still I am not sure people effectively communicate better... Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted October 13, 2009 Yes, I often remark to myself how amazing it is that one out of every two people you see walking, driving or whatever, have a phone stuck to their head. What in the world do we all have to say? How the hell did we survive without this technology. I spent the weekend with an old friend and he had his trusty iphone with him. I'll admit I was seduced by all the cool stuff it could do. Now I need one, and I know damn well I cannot justify the expense and all the goodies by any REAL sense of need. But here, the light is cool. It's almost as if it is another life force. Link to comment
