Saint Peter's Cathedral and the Square (view larger, pls)

I'm trying to extract the widest tonal gamut in this B&W without using HDR techniques.

I'm eager to read your critiques and comments on the result. Than-you for rating too.

I agree with you Elena, but when I try to darken the sky an awful halo (worst then the light one visible here) appears on the border of the objects and don't know which photoshop techniques have to use to eliminate, if any.

Ma mi sono fatto anche una critica:...probabilmente chi non e' abituato ad una bella donna, ne apprezza meglio le grazie di chi la ha sposata e ci vive insieme da tanto tempo,a meno che non la ami anche. PD.- Yo también trabajo las fotos desde hace más de un año con Lightroom. Aparte de otras funciones fotográficas, es un perfecto "revelador", te permite ajustar niveles, tonos, brillos, etc de una manera muy simple. Lightroom es un programa del mismo fabricante de PhotoShop pero exclusivamente para fotografía. El mismo programa sirve: para archivar con un sistema rápido y eficaz de archivo y posterior búsqueda. Para revelar las fotografías con la ventaja que nunca modifica el original solo guarda los datos de las modificaciones. Para hacer proyecciones. Para organizar las fotos para web. Para preparar las fotos y editarlas con tu impresora. Todo ello sin la necesidad de ir guardando copias de la misma foto, pues como te digo nunca modifica el original, se limita a guardar los datos de las variaciones que se han realizado y esto apenas ocupa espacio en el ordenador. Dicen que dentro de poco reemplazará a Photoshop (en lo que se refiere exclusivamente a fotografía)

Jordi, thank-you for your appreciation and your description about Lightroom. Actually I tried the free trial version of lightroom, but I find Aperture (more or less the Apple's equivalent of Adobe Lightroom) more friendly. I use it for cataloguing and for optimizing photos as well as for printing pictures and realizing wonderful books that are printed by Apple with just one click. When I need to work heavily a photo I use either Photoshop or the lot of plug-ins for Aperture, mostly Imagenomic Portraiture that performs amazing improvement on portraits.
