life-in-perspective 0 Posted September 22, 2009 It looks like a sculpture. Very good exposure. Regards. Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted September 22, 2009 Great shot and timing Linda. The cloud in the background seems to be in just the right spot for the composition....I think this cow was just 'waiting' for your.....very 'distinguished model'............congrats, Gail Link to comment
Pierre Dumas 264 Posted September 22, 2009 Special angle and background make this photo of the noblest animal very nice! PDE Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted September 22, 2009 Indeed! This is a grand shot. The angle increases the sense of nobility. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 22, 2009 Thank you all for commenting on my cow. She was out roaming free when I spotted her, she really seemed to be posing with dignity and confidence. Best wishes. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 23, 2009 I see you have a real feel for humor, the proud beast ! Like a Lion King or a mighty Stallion ... So I must say this is really a nice photograph with a great light feel of humor... MJ Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted September 23, 2009 How lovely to see a cow free instead of stuck in mucky stalls and bloated! Like others, I like the angle as well as the direct stare and listening ears. You often present a harmony with nature, symphonic. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 24, 2009 MJ, thank you for that, not everyone thinks I have a sense of humor. They just think I'm an idiot. Donna, the cows and most horses around here do run free. I think they have happier lives because of it. This old girl was making her way along the edge of a steep, overhanging, face of rock like a mountain goat. Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted September 25, 2009 A great perspective for your subject, I hope all the pies around you were dry. I rated this 5/6 because I felt the lighting was not as good as it could have been. But I also realize that your subject would not have been very cooperative in providing a better lighted pose. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 25, 2009 There is always that danger lurking when I go on these trips, but this was a good day, not a single fresh one to contaminate my new shoes. I appreciate your comment about the light. What would you have done differently? I really want to improve, and am very grateful for constructive criticism and advice. Best wishes, Linda Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted September 25, 2009 Sometimes there is just too much light and that prevents us from getting the best shot. Maybe a lens filter would have helped, but I know little about using them therefore I cannot offer any suggestions in that arena. Your composition is great, but there is too much light for me. ldavidson 4 Posted September 25, 2009 Thanks Shawn. I did have a poleroid filter on as it was a very bright, sunny day. Maybe I should start experimenting with ISO settings. I really do appreciate your honest comments. Linda Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted September 25, 2009 I hope its not going to get butchered, its a lovely image Linda. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 25, 2009 This cow's roll in life is to breed calves, so she won't be butchered until she is very old. She will have a long happy life grazing in the grasslands and having babies. Thanks for commenting. Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted September 25, 2009 Linda, I had the same question, but didn't ask. Relieving to read the answer. Uplifting too Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 25, 2009 I wasn't sure, so I asked my husband who is an ex-farm boy. He knows all about cows, horses and other domesicated animals. He's my encyclopedia on farm life. Have a great weekend. Link to comment
t37traveler 0 Posted September 26, 2009 Proud, noble - and defiant! The brilliant blue sky is the perfect backdrop for this somewhat unusually colored cow. Well done! Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted September 27, 2009 It's good to hear from you! Thanks for commenting. Best wishes. Link to comment
trisha jean-angela 5 Posted August 31, 2011 Funny, but when I saw this on the thumbnail my first thought was 'Regal Cow', and then I saw your title! I would say we were thinking alike on this one! I love cows...there is just something sweet, gentle and comforting about them; they are indeed proud and noble without any sort of presumption about them. They make me smile! Lovely image Linda; I love the angle from which you shot this one - elevating the cow and enhancing its natural nobility. Thank you for sharing. :) Link to comment
