johnsloan 0 Posted August 30, 2002 This was taken on one of the first weekends after my short term move to the S.F. Bay area. Please leave comments! Link to comment
mjobk 0 Posted August 30, 2002 I love the warm yellow light reflected on the tree and so would like to see a bit more of it. Usually I don't say to frame loser but here you should. A very nice photograph, well done! Link to comment
keithbrwon 0 Posted August 30, 2002 i must say the clouds really draw me in on this one. the only thing i can think to have changed would be to use a wider lense and aim slightly up so that you haven't split the picture 50/50. otherwise very nice. Link to comment
joe poggi 0 Posted August 30, 2002 This is simply a great shot. The combination of elements; the tree as a frame, light, clouds, water, land, and buildings for perspective, make this a great for framing or selling as a work of art! Link to comment
mark evans 0 Posted August 30, 2002 Very nice shot, I find it to be beautifully framed with the treein the foreground, and the light on the tree, great!. Even the sky shows some wonderfull textures, well done Link to comment
stewart_epstein 0 Posted August 30, 2002 I would suggest that you need a wee bit more of the tree on the left edge. Otherwise a fine image. Link to comment
stevel 0 Posted August 30, 2002 Excellent, but I agree with Stewart Epstein on the subjec of the tree and the horizon (ie the sea) is VERY slightly crooked. Sorry to be a pedant! Link to comment
photobyalan.com 0 Posted August 30, 2002 I'm going to add my vote to the "include more of the tree" group. That would have made this a great shot instead of just a good one. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted September 2, 2002 The curvature of the tree at left adds immensely to the shot. If including more of the tree increases the curve, I'm in favor of it. Link to comment
dennis_sloan 0 Posted September 3, 2002 From one Sloan to another, its a great shot. Since your a Sloan, it has to be. Link to comment

johnsloan 0 Posted September 4, 2002 I have posted another shot from this same location. The other one doesn't (imo) have the same magical light. The lighting for this shot lasted about 30 seconds and had started before I even got set up. I hurried to get something hence the slight horizon tilt and the insufficient crop of the tree. I still feel lucky to have gotten what I did. Please look at the other to see that I actually can compose a photograph when I have ample time. Thanks to all that have taken the time to leave comments, they are all greatly appreciated! Dennis, are we related? Link to comment
touchinglightphotography 0 Posted September 13, 2002 Love the side lighting on the tree trunk to frame a great sunset shot! The contrast in colors and the nice framing are really great! Link to comment
charley 0 Posted September 8, 2003 Quality man, quality. I personally would have enjoyed seeing a tad more trunk where it gets a little thin at the middle of the picture. Good work. Link to comment
