Hi, it looks good to me, an interesting shot which grabs attention and is nicely presented. My first thoughts, and i am no great photographer, are that the sky is burned out and perhaps the shot lacks sharpness? I could be wrong about that as i am only looking at a small picture, but I think that a shot like this needs to be really really sharp. The only other thought that might improve the shot would have be something in the foreground (a boat?), or come closer into to the bridge. Just my thoughts.... Well dome anyway, Cheers, erik

the composition is good... it is a perfect image for monochrome with its vast range of shades... sharpness is not an issue for me, i find it sharp enough -- more could have been possible with artifice which i don't think is to Sig. Moroni's tastes (nor mine)... however i find the image too contrasty... the clouds lack their characteristic softness (where they merge with the sky, particularly) and the trees their details... the buildings i find are clear and well-detailed, as is the bridge... but with the bridge i have other issues... its stones are a tad too gray -- though there are dark clouds above there is a great deal of natural brightness (witness, the white overblown sky)... i see no reason why the pristine whites of its magnificent structure should not be made visible to us... in the upload i have used Lightroom to lighten the image a bit without mishap to the buildings, shed more light on the trees and the bridge...

Mauro,

IMHO this is a good image. If I were you, I try to increase the drama of the sky, and the texture of reflections on the water ... attached my proposal, just to explain what I mean.

Your humble-friend, Stefano.

Vedi Mauro, io invidio amici come te che sanno fotografare Roma: ti sembrera' impossibile ma a me non piace come io fotografo..."questa citta' "!...Ciaomau!

although imho the contrast you have pourposedly chosen is a bit too much: the white strip gets to my eyes a bit too much weight in the overall composition. Thanks for sharing, ciao, Giuseppe

Dear Everyone,

thank-you for your comments, critiques evaluation and suggestion. Actually I tried to put together your different points of view and I have selectively photoshopped the original image to obtain:

1) a little bit of sharpness more, according to Erik hint;

2) a far less contrasted sky with a whiter bridge and more details in the left trees, according to Rajat-da opinion;

3) a little less overall contrast as Erik and Giuseppe suggest;

4) a more dramatic sky, according to Stefano's viewpoint.

I've also added a light vignette 'cause I know that Stefano will appreciate it.

Of course I'm not waiting for counter-comments, I know I'd ask too much in this case, but I invite you to get a glance to the revised version that, imho, is more interesting that the older one.

I substituted the original image with the updated one and I suggest to view it in the large format..

Many many thanx to everybody and warmest regards

Mauro

PS: and yes, you helped me to decide: thank to you now I think this is a good image! :-)

viewed larger is a beautiful photo. in the small size the white in the sky is too much white. Imho the bridge is a little bit sad.

Boh.

ahahah

You are really very exigent. Here I attach a version with a cleaner bridge, according to your 'desire' . I'm eager to know your opinion since in mine the updated version with the 'dirty' or 'sad' one is better.

Looking forward ...

Mauro
