Guest Guest Posted September 16, 2009 The children are both engrossed with the focal point, the whittling, which is very near the center of your picture, and kind of drives the eye back and forth between the figures and the ground. I'm glad you included a finished catapult in the second boy's hands--you're using a British word for a toy Americans call a slingshot. I like the combination of Western and native clothing which creates a sense of universality, and the idea that children can craft their own toys rather than have their parents purchase them, which is not a universal, and in fact a bit of a shocker in materialistic countries addicted to store-bought items. I love the sense of place imparted by the wickerwork, the smoke, and the very sensitively seen light.Happy Eid el Fitr! Link to comment
