Quite the panoply of posters out of which this little camouflaged child seems to emerge. Your shooting angle and perspective actually dwarfs him more, especially while including so much of the magenta tent covering. I think that helps establish how "surrounded" he feels, and the look of wonder on his face (terrific expression), the position of his hands, is also quite a draw here. It's a very colorful, creative photo of this child, seemingly lost in his colorful surroundings. I don't experience him as wanting to be 'outta here." For me, a more generalized childlike wonder seems at play.

Though I assume your goal was to express the child getting lost amid this display, you've been quite literal about it. I wonder if the child could have a little more focus (whether by actual focus or lighting or contrast, or bringing down the background some), without losing the sense of his overwhelming surroundings. With everything given such equal weight, saturation, and lighting, I feel more confronted, more sensory overload, when I view this and the story itself becomes secondary to that.

Has to be seen large, two things in this composition took my attention in the begining, the upper strong violet color( that even though strong hue, ballancing a bit the busy ads) and the lower child among

the grown ups in the ads... Looks a bit, with his expression out of place, as children of this age can be.( no parents around...;-)) The juxtaposition of all the ads and his presence on four, creates some feeling of humour, on one hand, and a lost child on the other.

It is for sure an unusal place, composition and timing ,as well as elements of surrounding ,you have the skills to find...

Love your choice of subject line, and if true then the tyke is making the correct choice. There must me more to life than this...

Always nice to get your thoughts on an image. The truth is the kid was kind of an accident. I was at a flea market held every Sunday just up the road from my town, and came upon this booth. I was immediately attracted to the bright violet canopy and the colorful posters. As I was getting ready to shoot, the little guy popped out from in back of the posters, so I went ahead and shot. In a second he was off somewhere else, but I decided I liked it just fine. Originally, I had much more of the canopy in because of its vivid colors. But then I decided that in order to keep the kid from disappearing I needed to crop more out to emphasize him more. I guess I could try to put some selective light on him, but, to be honest, he was not the primary emphasis when I took the image.

Dave, cool shot. Nice collage of posters. The child is bonus. Accidents in our lives, makes the difference between humdrum and charmed existence.

was my first thought. What a noisy, silly world we live in. The only thing remotely real here is the toddler and the plank he's crawling on.

My four year-old announced today at dinner, spontaneously and without context, that if I wanted to get my shirts spotless, I should use Oxy-Clean like they do on TV.

How the neon light seeps in through the cracks.

very interesting juxtaposition the grown-ups displaying their foolishness and the innocent child. I'm glad he's crawling away from the posters. That purple ceiling is a sight to behold. Good catch. On another note, I take very few pics these days, plus I've been busy, so I don't visit Pnet as often as before. You know, you're not a frequent flyer yourself, too. Cheers, Micheal

Run! Run like hell. Your four year old has had his mind taken over by the big advertising brother, but may yet be saved if you get him into isolation soon.

Nice to hear from you and know that all is more or less well in your world. You know, here in the states we know that our Canadian friends might die at any moment while awaiting some health care procedure, so we must remain in a constant state of vigilance. (Hey, that's a joke, so don't get riled up).

And, you are right that I'm not the frequent presence on Pnet that I used to be. I've made some super friends here, and it's a wonderful site, but it seems the exigencies of life have pulled me away a lot lately.

So, the elusive Mr. Meyer, back from the circus, I see. Looks like you brought a section of the midway with you including a crawling rug rat. Beautiful work, David, I couldn't think of a better choice to bring out the graphic nature of the posters than that swath of purple tent at the top. Really top drawer stuff.
