Pulcinella, music Igor Strawinski. It is a story about a character from the Commedia Dell'arte. The first time this ballet was performed was in 1920 in Paris.

The contemporary version of this ballet was created by the choreographer: Yoram Karmi and his dance group called "Fresco". This is a scene that characterizes the dance .

Thanks for viewing.

Dynamic, colourful and superb light. All the ingredients required to make this piece of art. To me, the light keeps being the strongest point here. The soul or enlightening the soul of the image. Congrats for this superb work my dear. Regards.

Great scene Pnina. In these scenes of course the light is very much the result of the technical setup of the theatre but the composition and just-in-time dimension is yours. I love the legs on either side and the fingers pointing at the main figure. Well done.

On purpose, I am convinced and very successfully. Yes, the question is there in the picture, the composition seems to resonate with the slope and I like the watery reflection in the floor.

Where is this performed?

Best Regards, Tibi

Vincenzo, for visiting and commenting.

Bob, it is a very nice choreography, glad you liked the glimpse....;-))

Jeff, yes, it has a sense of humor , but as well a glimps of human life and behavior.....

Armindo, right, the light is essential in every photograph, it is harder to deal with

the stage lights, but with experience I have found my ways...thanks my friend

Anders, you are right about the stage lights that are done by the theater, they are usually strong and hard to deal with, I search the scenes that are talking to me in the first place, and are less strongly lighted ... I have developed my own methods to "fight" them...., finding the right angles and other methods, etc...

Tibi, the show is in Suzanne Dellal dance center in Neve Tzedek. There will be two shows in 30th September and 13th of October at 9 PM, if you are interested....it is a very nice dance show. The "slanted" line is a good diagonal that fits Imo the foot of the dancer on the LHS.and the scene in general as placed on the frame..

Pnina, very good composition ,light & exposure.Though you have explained the context of the image, I feel there is a tone of bacchanalia.

This is a great antic shot, like a crazy ballet, choreographed by Mozart and presented by some Babylonian dance troup.. If the dance company doesn't use this shot in their posters and advertising, they're nuts. Just a perfectly wonderful use of light, color and character to highlight what appears to be a comic fantasy.

Pnina;

I missed this wonderful photo when it was posted but I am happy to find it now.

This is such a switch from your recently often used approach with slow shutter and motion drag. You have a keen eye for dance and know what works to convey the dance. The sharpness and the sense of a split second frozen in time give this large ensemble the clarity needed to allow the drama and intensity to shine through. The strength and defiance of the heroine is captured well as are the taunts of those surrounding her. Collectively the figures create a pleasing arrangement.

A couple of small things which I feel detract are the sense of the scene going down hill from left to right and the proximity of the figure on the right side of the image to the edge of the frame. Perhaps adding in a bit more blackness to the right side would also allow for a bit of leveling too.

Thanks for your nice and detailed impression of that dance scene. And for your offer for leveling it., I was aware of the way

"the sense of the scene going down hill from left to right and the proximity of the figure on the right side of the image to the edge of the frame. "

I liked the way the movement of the whole scene was creating like a triangle form with the stage and a diagonal line from the R dancer's leg to the upper left one. I tried all sort of leveling the scene and found out that to my feeling this way presented the movement better , showing the " crazy" scene ( the diagonal line adding tension)..... As I look for the lower light corners on the stage( it was photographed while performing to the public, and as you know lights can be and are strong ) that was the point I felt it will be the right moment. You are right though, too bad about the R leg nearly touching the frame ,but this was the best point I could have (without my possibility to really move.....)

Gord, it is so good to read your evaluation, it is always very thoughtful, and reasoned. Thanks again.

Hi Pnina,

This is an outstanding theatre image. What a wonderful capture of the performance and judging from this image it was a triumph. The light on the performers, their placement in the scene, the clarity of details on the costumes, the movement make this sensational, something I would want to go and see. The dance group must be thrilled with your work.

Best wishes,

Linda

Absolutely top-notch. Beautiful capture of movement and tension in balance, which is what dance is about.
