An ominous image with excellent mood.

Was the environment this intimidating in real life, or is this more a result of your skilful Photoshop play, Rajat?

as close as it is possible for artificial pixels to capture the real sight... the heavy mustiness in the air, the oppressing stink of millenia... those will have to be imagined... ...it is a view of the deepest constructed section of a step well that was never completed... local lore has it that a curse is upon it... it is centuries old... not ornate and artistic as many of these step-wells are... none of my group could tolerate it for more than a few moments (refreshments were waiting outside)... i stayed behind to take these photographs... i could increase the light but the atmosphere would be lost, and there are no architectural wonders hidden in the depths of the darkness...

A great low key picture, Rajat, quite intimidating and with a dark mood that make me think to the gates where the inferno's descent starts.

Rajat, very good composition and exposure. You have been able to capture uncanny atmosphere . I can well imagine the mustiness deep down there. Thanks for sharing the historical background, which enables viewers to know what is .

Very ominous indeed - you have captured the mood here quite nicely - I really like this composition - and I agree - brighter would have not had the same effect. Who knew that we really need gas masks too on outings - makes since though - I am glad you survived it Rajat - on that note you need to quite smoking and drinking so much too, heh heh :-)

I agree with the comments above, great use of low key to create scary atmosphere and though the place looks mysterious, I wouldn't go any step farther to satisfy my curiosity. The composition with broken symmetry and the texture of the walls are strong points of this work but this is just the intensity of emotions that makes it so interesting. Looking at the two dark openings nearly makes my flesh creep:-}. Best regards.

You showing here an image with a touch of mystery, as my student said, it seems that something is going to pop out. Warm regards my friend.
