maria 7 Posted October 13, 2009 We start our parcours with the first nucleus. The Round Church is a monument in late classicistic style, with a portico on four columns with ionic capitals, with entablature, with a religious inscription, organised as a central hall, above with a cupola. The architect Antal Fruman from Győr designed it following the model of the Pantheon in Rome. It was built between 1841-1846, as the plate from the tourism office from 1961 tells us. The altar image from the right is the work of Vaszary János (1867-1939). In Balatonfüred there are two other churches, for the reformed rite (The White Church, in Copf and classicistic style, from 1830) and catholic (The Red Church), included in the touristic circuit, the catholic church presenting a red stone exterior out of sandstone specific for the region and so similar to the historical villas and the churches in smaller towns, like Balatonalmádi, a neighbouring locality. pucciarelli 0 Posted October 14, 2009 Maria, I never seen round church. Interesting history. This is neatly framed. Well done. THe only thing that bothers me is the right edge. Either crop it or clone it. Please feel free to critique/comment any of my Emmitsburg, DC - Aboreturm photos. Regards, Michael Link to comment
