maria 7 Posted September 26, 2009 The villa of the renowned writer Jókai is a single storey building dated 1870. It is a monument and the plate of the monument dates the villa and tells us that it was built in early eclectic style, in a 2-3-2 axes system with a risalit in the middle and closed terrace. It was 20 years long property of the writer and he wrote here the novel “The Man With The Golden Touch” (Az Aranyember) a part of the action of which takes place on the shore of laka Balaton. Today the building is a museum and can be visited also in the interior (other photos), for photographs there is a little fee. The villa has a garden with old trees and a statue. One of the trees, paulownia tolmentosa, 120 years old, 13 m tall, with a crown of 65 m² is protected. Link to comment
