Guest Guest Posted September 14, 2003 Hi Roland, saw loads of this type of shot back when the war was in progress. The bandages in the background, the salute, the whole thing looks so set-up that the viewer could even start to wonder if his feet are in sand (I know what your thinking ... but thats how it looks) ... Guest Guest Posted September 15, 2003 Hi Roland, yep I know no sand (not questioning your integrity) , but if you look at it without the emotions of when you took the shot, can you see what I mean by looking set-up? The public are getting so used to expecting photo's to be digitally altered it's getting harder for them to believe we produce only what we see ... Tony Link to comment
matt_l.1 0 Posted September 17, 2003 Yes, sand was the first thing that came to my mind. As a younger person i haven't seen this type of shot - so it definately is quite interesting and 'powerful' to my eyes. I do wonder if another composition and treatment of the light would have been more effective... though i'm at a loss to suggest an alternative. Very nice shot. Link to comment
anhtu 0 Posted June 19, 2005 One of those types of images that just burns in your memory for years to come. Very powerful. I liked how you chose to capture the photo of him "smiling" - adds a human nature to this other inhuman tragedy. many respects. Link to comment
