1\250 @ f5.6 hand held. Focused a tad in front of the perch\post to anticipate bird's position after lift off. Should have had 400 ISO film to allow faster shutter speed. Best, LM.

Len, wonderfull capture, love the way you've caught the wings as if the vulture was preparing to scoop up it's prey.it's the clearest image of a vultures head I have ever seen. That eye, Wow!. Thanks for your comments on my dredge image. No ,never thought of panning, don't have a pan to my name. Expect many traveller's have stopped & tried their luck. Best Regards-Ross.

From what I learned that day the only 'prey' that vultures seek out has already been dead for some time. It appears they have a good sense of smell but no sharpness or power in their talons (more like feet) to kill. It was taking off from the perch on the left & I had an opportunity to observe several such take-offs. I was finally confident I could capture one on film. This was the (happy) result! Thanks for taking the time. Best, LM.

It is your second nice timing and result. I like the moment of his open wings and the red beak in the middle. The green BG is a nice source of his "lodging". Nice as well are his wings and tails details, and his direction of flying.

Thanks for your visit. The demonstration featured about 6 different birds & all were worth photographing. A bit of preparation such as anticipating & pre focusing were necessary with my manual focus cameras. The key ingredient necessary for a successful photo was luck & I got some. :-) The flight of the horned owl was more difficult because of it's speed I suppose. Best, LM.

I liked the image which shows good timing. The "eye contact" is also a big plus!

I may suggest a selective denoising and/or blurring of the background the make the Mr. Vulture stand out more.

Eye contact? Gee, he WAS looking at me. Now I'm worried. They're only supposed to show interest in dead things. :-) Good suggestion about the background. A bit of Gaussian blur might do the trick. Mr. Vulture? It's 'Dragon' to his friends. :-) Best, LM.
