Congratulations for your visitor!I liked the cropping used as compositional element ! The head is a little bit hidden in shadows under the rock, but the idea is good looking!

Well captured!

Nice capture, Jim. I find the head is a bit too enclosed in shadow but that's due to the shyness of the snake. Good sharpness and detail.

Get a 300 mm lens or good boots...

Even though it is a garter I would not venture close enough to get a worth while shot... Fun to see though your lens though... Thanks Jim.

Nice shot Jim. Like Gail, I am not a big fan of snakes either. I have had to learn to tolerate them because my son loves and collects them. I have come to appreciate their interesting patterns and colours like this one here.
