stemked 4 Posted August 30, 2009 Gregory, You're a lucky person to have such faithful mosquitoes eliminators around. I'm a Microbiologist and life-long naturalist. If I can be so bold I'd just like to comment that bats across eastern North America are unfortunately being hit hard with a deadly disease cased by a fungous that attacks their nose. It is perfectly harmless to humans. A concern is that it maybe spread from location to location by human's visiting contaminated sites. You can help protect your colony by limiting access of other people to the colony and not visiting other bat sites yourself. As I'm sure you know, fungi spread by spores and spores can very easily adhere to clothes of visitors. I suggest this only because this disease is really devastating. This is not an exaggeration; several species of bats will almost surely be wiped out within the next couple of years. Link to comment
gregverena 343 Posted September 1, 2009 Thanks, Doug These guys are in the hayloft of our barn. Not too many visitors there. And we don't go out much, being on the farm, certainly not to caves. That being said, see the nice clean noses? Take care, Greg Link to comment
