Duncan,

What's not to love about Vickie? What a cutie. Wonderful smile and good eye contact with the camera (viewer). Great focus on her eyes and good catch lights. She has nice skin tone (maybe a little bit orange?). I love the specular highlights on her skin and lips. Vickie has great make-up.

Your main light is from her right side. It would be better coming from above, to the side and slightly in front of her, so that you get catch lights at the 10 or 2 o'clock positions on her irises.

You have too much head room above her. The bright green background is distracting. It draws attention away from her face. A darker more neutral color would be better. Green, and yellow (and some blues) usually do not go well with skin tones.

Her hand placement is a little forced (cheesy?). I would not have the fingers so stiff on her right hand and not so tightly closed on her left hand -- if I used this hand pose.

You don't want her left shoulder touching the edge of the picture -- either give it some room or cut into it.

I might move Vickie just a tad to her left. You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph.

Nice shot,

Mark
