amalsircar 2 Posted August 28, 2009 Len, you got her on an appropriate pedestal. Looks like a wooden sculpture. Very good composition, exposure & DOF. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 29, 2009 This was taken at a wildlife presentation at a local conservation area. The owl was quite tame & very cooperative. Lighting was overcast, ideal for this type of image. Easy to capture on film but a minor treasure all the same. Thanks for your input. Best, LM. Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 29, 2009 The eyes in thirds position is classic composition and works fine. Very nice contrast of colors and sharp / unsharp. Do you have a closer shot, too ? Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 29, 2009 Thanks for your thoughts on this one. A 135mm was the longest lens I had that day & I have no closeups. I'm going back tomorrow for another try however so stay tuned. Best, LM. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 29, 2009 With your lens you really did well. It is a very nice composition with real nice contrasts and BG.I hope he will wait for you to take a closer one with a longer lens, But as is, as was said, it is really classic! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted August 30, 2009 Nice of you to stop by again. Even at a distance of about 30' the 135mm used nearly wide open does a nice job on the background. Light levels that day only permitted a shutter speed of 1|250 sec so moving birds gave me trouble. I'm going back today (similar light conditions) armed with 400 ISO film and my 100-300mm lens & am hoping for shutter speeds of 1\1000 or at least 1\500. Stay tuned. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 2, 2009 Any suggestions on how to make this image stronger either pre or postexposure? Many thanks, LM. Link to comment
steveshinn 0 Posted September 2, 2009 Agreed, it looks natural and the setting is beautiful; leave it. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 3, 2009 No excuses for this shot. It should be sharp as the bird is at rest. My troubles began when trying to capture it in flight. Thank you both for stopping by & taking the time to comment. Most appreciated. Best, LM. Link to comment
