GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 23, 2009 The ONLY REASON I have entered this under 'to be rated' is so that it will be seen more...My Editing is very poor - Focus not the best as I felt like David Livingstone as I stuck my head in the shrub while trying to get a 'pic' of this 'horrible looking Creature'. My experience with Spiders is limited at best and Huge Spiders with 'punching bags' at the front are a species I've never come across. It was quite large, really long legs.....If it is Poisonous I'd like to try to catch it, as children visiting Grandparents play near the 2 pools all the time.............any help is most appreciated.....tnks, Gail Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 23, 2009 Thank you so much for your kind comments.......I agree...vey scary......freaky in fact......but glad you liked it, even it's imperfect 'state' .........sincerely, Gail Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted August 24, 2009 Like the title however I feel as though I am the one caught in the web and not the weaver.... Indeed an interesting process making the web but that is no where near as interesting as the process work you did in presenting this image... Impressive! MJ Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 24, 2009 many thanks for your visit and appreciation of my very scary and ugly spider!!!! sincerely, Gail Link to comment
wogears 186 Posted August 24, 2009 I believe you have got some kind of funnelweb spider (genus Agelenidae). Although your focus maybe should be on its head, the shot is still pretty good. Link to comment
szattler 0 Posted August 24, 2009 One of the best spider, wich I have seen. Very good shot. Ed Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted August 25, 2009 Careful Gail, I think it is the infamous photographer eating spider. OK, maybe a Wolf Spider. Great job. Like the composition, Best wishes-Jim Link to comment
Art X Photography 1 Posted August 25, 2009 nice detail and colour Gail. well presened too Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 26, 2009 Hi Les, I think you 'win the prize'.......I finally searched out spiders on the net....and it might be one of manny 'funnnel web' spiders..........and from what I read....those punching bags on the front......kind of indicate that it is a Male........as they are used in the reproduction process, and they don't look like a female part. Thanks for your info......and comments.....greatly appreciated. sincerely, Gail Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 26, 2009 Well, I hope I can get one in a bit better focus for you Ed..........but your comments are much appreciated.........sincerely, Gail Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 6 Posted August 26, 2009 Very funny..........I write this whilst being devoured by this 'horried' spider that I brought home for a pet.........I don't know how much time I have left .............(just kidding) - I've seen a lot of Wolf Spiders and they are ghastly also.......think it is a funnelweb spider as Les suggested......tnks for your kind yet 'scary' comments'........Photographer eating spider!!!!! Actually, guess it's not such a great idea trying to get real near any spider that looks this ugly!!!!!!!!!!!.....But 'for sures'........it's a male (hope he finds a mate soon.......cos he must be 'hurt'in'!!!! tnks for your comments.....(I think!!),,,,,Gail Link to comment
