Militiary Orchid, a rare and beautiful plant, photographed using a

1DsIII, 300mm 2.8L and a 2xII converter. It's the best way to

photograph plant portraits like these, forget macro lenses. The

background and foreground becomes beautifully out of focus, leaving

the eye to concentrate on the flower alone. Hope you like it, many

Very nice indeed!!! I agree with you about the technique. I took some mushroom photographs with 70-200mm/4L with very nice DOF.

Its even better if you use extension rings on the 70-200, you can get very close with fabulous background blur.

David, I think this is wonderful. The asymmetrical placement of the orchid really works well and adds interest and elegance to the stunning beauty.
