Taken in Nevis (Jul 09) with the D300 and my now favorite lens Sigma 10-20mm. Initial conversion from color was done with Capture v1.3 with some dodge and burning. Spot removal done with PShop CS2. More comfortable with color but giving B&W another try.

This is really attractive - fantastic tonal range and you caught some very pretty clouds. I see that you are not immune to the anon 3/3 - guess someone wants to keep the image out of the 'top rated'.

Indeed Tony - excellent wide angle capture with loads of dof. I personally like the nuances in the grey tones. Great conversion - thanks for sharing!

Anuar - thanks and I have recently visited your images.

Michael - thanks for your visit - you have some nice stuff in your portfolio.

Fabrizio - thanks - PS your Cafe/bar B&W is really very good.

Hussein - thanks for your input.

Jana - the world traveler - i appreciate your visit - thanks for your comment.

Bella - thank you for your comment and recognition of the "anon 3/3" - just part of the scene - enough people have have said how much they like the image and combine that with approx 5000 folks from PN having viewed the image, that is enough for me.

Dr.Didi - thank you for your frequent visits, comments and ratings.

El - coming from one who is an expert in B&W, your input is very meaningful especially as I do very few B&W conversions.

Ruud and William - thanks for your ratings.

Looks awesome in B&W. I have a thing for high contrast B&W skies and so, would have liked some more here, but that's just a personal preference.

It in now way detracts from this composition. Excellent work.

I openly admit that B&W is not my favorite medium so I must look to see what others are doing in this area. More contrast in the sky - H-m-m-m - I must try it and see what it looks like. Thanks for the suggestion.

Your comment and rating is highly appreciated. I have loaded about 8 images to PN tonight and I think I will put a hold on loading any more new images for a quite a while. best regards,

Ah . . . the lonely beach with the shorebreak, a few pebbles strewn about, and a jetty, seawall, or natural rock formation. Then we have an INCREDIBLE sky, looking like a maelstrom, ready to pull all of us in. I guess that's the point; it pulled me in.

Fantastic B&W. Although the tones could be boosted a little, it's also very fine the way it is. While we're on the subject of crooked horizons :-)..... I think the horizon drops down a little on the left side......Because of the angled line of waves it's harder to detect, but I notice stuff like that. Dramatic sky and overall killer shot!

(*_*) - in this case I suspect that that slope is created by distortion from my Sigma 10-20 mm wide angle and I have not learned how to get rid of the distortion. It must not be easy since there is a plug-in for PS to do the work for you and I have not invested in that as yet. I off to get my 'beauty' sleep. Best regards and I have enjoyed our dialogue.

Very nicely done Tony....I haven't had any images yet that I truly want to do in black in white - at least nothing as dramatic as this.......love the clouds and waves........lovely.....hope it was a nice vacation..........Gail
