human images 4 Posted August 17, 2009 A poignant, unaffected, strong street scene Rajat... composed and shot from below - just right! I took the liberty to bring out needed detail by highlighting contrast in the midtones and shadows and cropping out the car and some of the blowout pavement. The wonderful triangular geometry takes the eye for a ride before settling the viewer, along with the two women, to focus the center of the photograph on the leg support. Again a fine and moving picture. And an excellent title. Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted August 17, 2009 Thank You! Your words echo symphony-like in my ears! The original crop i had made was similar to your comp, centering on the 'leg support', but the ' 7 ' painted on the concrete required an additional wheel or leg, so i included the car. Your teasing out all those details inspires me to re-work on this photograph... Link to comment
tonycussen 0 Posted August 17, 2009 Hi Rajat, This is a magnificent street shot. The leg makes for a very strong composition. What is the story behind the leg in the middle of the pavement? Does it belong to the lady on the left? Regards, Tony Link to comment
aarkp 2 Posted August 17, 2009 Thank You. I was as foxed as you are at this odd sight. We had just finished lunch and i had come out for a smoke. Waiting for my wife and daughter on the pavement my eyes roamed around for anything worth photographing -- as has now become a habit. I got two shots before they exited and we had to board our transport. I didn't get a chance to discover more... Link to comment

dengo99 0 Posted August 18, 2009 Rajat thank you for your comments and suggestions on my photo "Last Swim". I like your photo of Supports. The image captures the scene without trying to be sentimental about the issue, the use of B & W gives it more impact. Keep up the excellent work. Regards Dennis Link to comment

aarkp 2 Posted August 19, 2009 Thank You. None on PN! You're the first. There are many things in life that are bad for one... Link to comment
ellery 0 Posted August 19, 2009 (smile) - Now, you are not going to rationalize smoking now are you - it is inoequivacally one of the worst things for ones health that is self inflicted - 1 in 5 in the US die as a result....there are many things that are bad for a person, but smoking is the king of these things and it has the statistics to prove it.....but for me, it is not the fact that it kills that is the problem, it will eventually cause emphesema and one's quality of life becomes very poor - difficultly breathing, oxygen therapy, etc.. - it does not necessarily kill you - you live with it, and you live with much torment and disability. Anyway, thats my soap box my friend - I only give it to you because you have became my friend on here :-) The speech rarely works though - my own family who smoke dont listen to it. I usually get my patients to think more about it by talking about their grandkids graduation in 10 years or something like that, always a soft spot..... Anyway, again, great photo - I digress very much! Link to comment
