In the Arms of Mother Earth

Upon a early evening arrival at my hotel in Taskent, Uzbekistan, I looked

out my room window. There was a large lake behind the hotel and on

the forested distant shore, little white figures moved amid the trees.

Asian birds or ...? I couldn't figure it out. The next night I walked around

the lake to find that this Magic Forest is where all the brides of

Tashkent come to be photographed after their wedding service. The

Security Police waived me through the gate and I was soon walking

among 30 new couples and double dipping as their personal

photographers set up shots. No one seemd to mind if I kept my

distance.
