Wonderful viewpoint to capture this wonderful example of God's natural architecture. The whole view is breathtaking.

That road on the left really puts the size of this rock in perspective, more so than the trees. This is amazing. I feel dizzy looking at it. One of these days I hope to see this for myself. Wonderful shot! All the best.

I see that this must be getting 'across the pond' before it reaches people over here. :-) Seriously though, thanks for your wonderful comments. This is such a spectacular formation. To answer your question, Keith, we were walking along a ridge above.....spent quite a lot of time because I was waiting for the shadows to appear. We had already done a lot of hiking that day, so we opted not to walk all the way down to the bottom. In this instance, we thought the best views would be from the top anyway. Maybe next time though. And John, I haven't been over to your portfolio in awhile....I'll check that out soon!

I see that Linda was able to sneak in a comment while I was writing my last comment. Thanks, Linda....and yes, you're right.....the road does help lend some sense of scale. What was really neat was to see the Navajo's at the bottom selling their jewelry.....they looked like specks. In one case there was what looked like an entire family, and they had one of those giant trampolines set up for the kids to occupy themselves with. Glad they stayed far enough away from this for the sake of the many photographers who were there!

Talk about jealous~! This is a great photo, esp. the POV.

I have been wanting to get out there but I don't know if I will ever get there now.

Great shot and your other photos too1

Thanks so much, Jim! I see that you must have received my email. Hey, I want to alert you to a problem with your portfolio. I tried to get back in to see some of your work, but it won't let me access your portfolio for some reason. I also tried yesterday, and it wouldn't work, so I don't think it's just a 'thing of the moment'. If you can figure out what's wrong, please let me know. I'd like to get back in and snoop around at your images. Thanks!

Ironically, it was 2 days after this that I DID have a terrible fall.....5-6 hrs. in the emergency in Page, AZ. So Norm will be keeping a really close eye on me during our upcoming trip to Oregon. Thanks for all of your visits tonight......greatly appreciated!

The time of day you took this image presented challenges but you managed to tame the light - great depth and i almost feel dizzy looking at it. Well done.

Thank you all for your comments. And yes, it is very bright.....it would have been better with a little cloud cover. This is one of those places where if you were to take the picture at the traditionally best time of day, there would be heavy shadows covering the spires. So I just did the best I could under the circumstances. Thanks for your interest.
