blue-olympus 0 Posted August 9, 2009 Great idea for a Still Life David with splendid exposure and clarity. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 9, 2009 David, you do have very nice works in your portfolio, but this one is not among them. Nothing personal, but I absolutely cannot accept images of killed animals. Such kind of pictures belong to "hall of shame" category. To kill animals is probably kind of perverse"sport", but definitely not to be proud of! Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted August 9, 2009 Thank you Keith - your comments are very welcome. Dr. Didi - Thank you also for your interest and comment - I respect your position although I do not share it. I could discourse at length on what it means to be a hunter - but perhaps this is not the place. Suffice to say that we are all part of the life and death cycle of this earth, whether directly or by proxy. To partake directly in this ancient ritual - with all due respect and admiration for the animal hunted - allows one to be more fully connected to the natural world in my opinion. valphotography 0 Posted August 10, 2009 Yes, hunting it is style of life, and You did great job on that picture! With respect, Valentyn Link to comment
e_thp 0 Posted August 10, 2009 I love the shared colours and textures. reminds me of the hunting still lifes by the old masters. Was this done in the field or did you bring everybody home? Both shells are unfired, eh? Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted August 10, 2009 Thanks for veiwing and commenting Valentyn and e thp. The photo was made in the field, with the gun reloaded after the shot, which is customary. Best, David Link to comment
s._d.1 0 Posted August 11, 2009 What a shame it's dead. This photo makes a mockery of the nature photos of beautiful living animals on this site. Sorry David, I have little respect for people who believe seeing animals dying for their entertainment is a way to connect with nature. Link to comment

bilianar 0 Posted February 10, 2010 I loved your flower images, but these scenes destroyed it all. Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted February 10, 2010 Well Biliana - I promise you no flowers were harmed by this scene . . . Link to comment
fredric_dorothy 0 Posted July 4, 2012 I think it's a very powerful shot, despite the problems other people have with the subject. Your photos capture the essence of what is so drawing to the old sport, which I think many people do a disservice to by putting up trophy shots. Please continue to share your hunting experiences with us! Link to comment
vrankin 1,339 Posted July 4, 2012 David, your image shows a high degree of visual and technical mastery. By the way, how familiar might you be with Matt Laur here on the site? Your portfolios and approaches to discussion are very similar. Highest regards! Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted July 4, 2012 Great concept and execution. Personally, I think the image would be a bit more logical with one of the chambers spent, as this would explain what happened to the bird. And, that's one huge bird! Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted July 12, 2012 Thanks Howard - I've seen and enjoyed Matt's work, and hope to approach his professionalism someday! Thanks also Emmanuel - and that's a fine idea about leaving a chamber empty. I will keep this in mind . . .Best, David Link to comment
