Not Here 93 Posted August 3, 2009 Christal... Whoa.... this one stopped the scrolling. Soft, melted sky punctuated by all the sharp spires... very good.... Mike Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Thanks for viewing and/or rating this! We hadn't seen any great sunsets on our trip, but I was ever hopeful for one. We were in wide open spaces in N. Arizona when I saw these rock formations. So my husband and I waited for over an hour at this location in the HOPES that Mother Nature would cooperate.....and she did! Thanks again! Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted August 5, 2009 Great capture Christal. The colors and contrast really make this appealing. This would be fun to warm up a bit and maybe bump the reds a notch. Not a criticism, cause I like it the way it is, just an observation. Arizona is one photographic state isn't it! Best wishes-Jim Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 7, 2009 I thank you both kindly! Jim, it was the most amazing sky that night, and I was afraid if I did too much more to it, it wouldn't be believable. :-) But I'll play with your idea.....thanks! And yes, we loved Arizona....so much variety there. We'll soon be heading off to Oregon, and I'm finding the variety there also amazing. I can't wait to shoot pictures on the coast. Link to comment
dgv 1 Posted August 11, 2009 I like this better than the black and white one Cristal. Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted August 12, 2009 Silk ribbons of blue, magenta and gold, against the black rock formations are dramatic and breathtaking. Sometimes western sunsets seem too beautiful to be true. I am glad you captured this one in all it's glory. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 12, 2009 You're certainly right about the western sunsets. I suppose they're really no more beautiful than our midwestern sunsets. But because of the broad expanses and vistas, you're able to see them! I loved seeing the western skies as we drove across N. Dakota and Montana this summer. Here at home I have to literally take a trek to find a place with unobstructed views of the sunset. Thanks for your visit and comment! Link to comment
