This is a soft and gentle image that I do not think needed such harsh criticism.....why do people have to come out and 'insult' another this way.....if they truly feel they need to express their feelings in such a way..why not Email you with some suggestions......????? Oh well maybe its not only women who ge PMS.......I have experienced the Phenomena.....O gee....see that word 'men' in Phenomena? Just like PMS (Pre Menstral Tension)....hmmmmmm.........there's that word 'men' again....????

I can see the soft 'rainbow colors' in the mist.....lovely to see the moon also Richard. I think this shot would be cool with the 'ghost' of a woman's image disappearing into the mist just along the edge of the grasses....(she wouldn't have to be naked either! perhaps a long dress as in Wuthering Heights...or something in the 'Fairy Dust' type images.....?)

I think this image has laid the 'ground work' for something truly beautiful.....all the elements are here Richard...I wish I could 'do' as well. The ring around the moon even adds more to the 'Ethereal Mood'......congrats....you may not want to do anything with it.....but I can envision it......I love it!!

This is Critique Forum - when any PN member puts forward a photograph for critique that's what he or she gets, or is there a critique rule book I have not read. Are we PN members only suppose to give good comment to all photographs if that's the case I want no part of the good buddy scene. What Richard got from me was honesty pure and simple, as for sending a e-mail the whole point of leaving comments is that others like you can play there part to agree or disagree with my view. I have put many shots into competitions over the years photographes I thought great I was so wrapped in the light and mood only to find out three judges had a different view. We all take poor photographs from time to time myself included, sometimes we need others the point this out.

Yes you are right...in being a 'novice', and quite inexperienced, I think I read the critique as being quite harsh....more like a 'slap on the hand'. You told him in no uncertain terms what you felt was wrong with this image.

I think I saw the critique as being one that only told him 'all he did wrong'.....wtih no constructive advice that could take this image from a 'state of having very little merit at all' to one that could 'stand on it's own'.

But as you stated, you know what Richard is capable of - and he is a very talented photographer.......I'm sure he does not need you 'spoon feeding him' with your suggestons as to how you feel the image could truly be improved. Richard has a 'hard shell' and can take the criticism, go from there and produce an image that 'does not disappoint.'

I apologise for interpreting a "tone" in your words (harsh)......that is not my place, or any of my business.

Richard is not 'inexperienced' as I truly am. Having said that, I think I 'took your critique too personally' and it is not even my image. Again I apologise if I offended you with anything I said. You are a very talented Photographer and have every right critique in whatever manner you wish.

This 'exercise' has taught me yet another one of 'life's lessons....and for that - I thank you. sincerely, Gail
