I'm submitting 2 similar shots.....one with shadows and one without.

Please give me your honest opinions at to which you like better. It

helps to view these larger. Thank you!

I think the one with shadows is much better, more interesting... shows that the sun is out, adds almost assumed movement and nice outlines on the ground as opposed to nothing. Shadows always add dimension.

I also prefer the shadows it does add depth and interest to the overall image. Nice work! Regards, Leslie

Christal.... Make it unanimous so far. The shadows add visual interest and a secondary subject element. This has a very pronounced nostalgic feel; but tell Norm if he's gonna retire he has time to learn how to operate the dryer :-)... Mike

I agree with all of you fine photographers!!! So it's done, and now I'll probably remove both of these images and then resubmit this version for critique at some point....no hurry though. Thanks for your input folks! And Mike, yes I'm pulling another all-nighter (or almost). I'm trying to make travel arrangements for our upcoming trip to Oregon. At this late date I can't believe the prices of airfares and hotels.....all the half-way affordable hotels are already booked. GRRR!!! Give me a camper any day!!!

Christal,

I love this one. This is such a wonderful idea, I love the black and white. I wonder what it would look like in sepia? Great capture. Regards, Patsy

I second all the others, the shadows are more interesting, adding to the composition. Nice idea of the "string" of laundry in the landscape, and the oval "frame"....

Christal, I agree with the others and for the same reasons. Pasty wondered what it would look like in sepia, I think that might be interesting as well. I also wonder what this would look like as a full rectangle? Just thoughts, I really like this one. All the best.

Thanks, ladies! Patsy, I think I actually experimented with some other tones when I was editing this, but I'll give the sepia another look. Thanks for the suggestion. And now I think I'll remove the other version, and then maybe I'll submit this for critique. I'm enclosing the original color version so you can see what it looked like. You'll see why I decided to put the oval frame around it. Thanks again to you all!

I loaded 2 different versions of this. The 1st time it came as a link to the image, and the 2nd time it put the entire image up. I loaded them exactly the same way. Can someone explain to me why this happens? Thanks! I'd rather not have the full version image.....just the link to it.

Christal,

Wow, I like them both. This is just a unique picture anyway you expose it. You pick the one that you like best, you have a winner any which way you go. Regards, Patsy

Christal, I love the colour version! This is my favorite. I love the happy cheerful colours. That top right corner is distracting, but that could be cloned out. That said, I feel I should warn you that you can never please everyone. It is good to take advice from others, experiment and try different things, just let your own opinion rule in the end. Best wishes.

Thanks for your vote for the color version. I love the colors of it also, although my editing skills are still so primitive that I don't know how to clone out that corner.....will learn! But there is also something I love about the B&W version.....looks more old-timey to me with the flowers and checkered clothing. Anyway....it's always fun to see what appeals to other people, and I always appreciate your stopping by!

Christal, very good composition. It is the shadows that accentuates the beauty of the image, Admirable tones and framing.
