jkilgo 0 Posted July 27, 2009 Wonderful portrait...very nicely captured and presented...the frame really adds character and interest. I agree with Amy the lighting is wonderful in this portrait...the high ratio lighting adds a lot of nice shaping detail to his face and shirt....wonderful brite eyes and demure expression...he seems to enjoy posing for mom. Great job. Link to comment

rascal64 9 Posted July 28, 2009 Amy, Jeff and Jill...thank you for the feedback...I hope that you all have the popular opinion. I did this for a business promo. The pic is going to be super small and I need to catch eyes...parental eyes. Link to comment
amyknutkowski 0 Posted July 28, 2009 Well then I think you have a winner because I first saw it as a little thumbnail on the children's critique forum page and it jumped right out at me. :-) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 3, 2009 Yes. The eyes really are commanding here and, even at a small size, they are powerful. The big hat, rather than drawing attention away from her eyes, actually gives them more presence. It's a very sweet child portrait, nicely lit, the lighting also accentuating her sweet cheeks, softening her face and drawing the viewer in. Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted August 5, 2009 Thank you Amy, Jeffrey and Fred. Jeffrey...I am guessing that you never got my email? Fred...thank you for taking and giving your time. After reading all your posts about critiquing, I am especially thankful to be part of your process. I am surprised however, that you of all people did not read the lead in and are also guilty of gender assumption. mmm, mmm, mmm. Ziggy is my son. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 5, 2009 If I'm not mistaken, I've actually done this once before with your son, so I should doubly know better by now. Mea culpa and all that jazz! It's actually quite funny that this has happened. As you know, I always enjoy reading critiques that have come before mine and encourage others to do the same. And I did do that here, but didn't pay much attention to the one pronoun that was used. All I can say is that my eye generally goes right to the critiques and often doesn't go to the title and opening statement. Part of the reason is that I hate most titles and don't want to start out already feeling negatively when I critique. Honest truth. It's my own foible which I readily admit to. So because I've gotten accustomed to avoiding titles, I sometimes miss other valuable stuff right under the photo. Anyway, I think I will for sure remember the gender of your son in the future. He's adorable. Link to comment
rascal64 9 Posted August 6, 2009 Thanks Fred...I know it is hard to read subtle sarcasm in posts, but seriously, I was very amused by your statement....our childrens genders are CONSTANTLY confused by people...oh well, oh well. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 6, 2009 Thanks. I knew you were joking and likely smiling when you wrote it. Just wanted to respond. Link to comment
