This is a roadside scene just outside of Cambria along hwy 46 on the way from Paso

Robles. The fog is the marine layer lifting, as this is within 5 miles of the California

Coast. This is a daily event when the weather conditions are hot inland. Paso Robles

15 miles to the east, was experiencing 100 degree temps while along the coast, the

temps were hovering around a cool 65 degrees. Thanks for your time!

Mark.... Dreamy, soft, and the fence and treeline leading into the image really provide excellent depth. The yellow flowers are dessert on an already excellent shot... Mike

Thanks Mike and Dave. Mike, it is always good to hear from you. I still have you on my to do list to send an 8X10 print of the "Rankin Ranch" series with the title of "Feeding Time at the Ranch". I tell you, we have a good boy and he does a good job being a baby, but he still sponges up much of my spare time. Anyway, I will get to it soon I hope. Dave K, I am honored to have your comment come my way. I have admired your work for some time, commented on a few. Nice to hear from you as well!

Beautiful landscape. Nice exposure. The yellow flowers in the foreground and the sky with clouds made the image very impressive. Very well done.

Mark, I think that a pruning filter applied to the right hand weed would have done wonders here. I find ir a distraction from the wonderful light and colour in the rest of the image.

Thanks Kallol, Dr. Didi and Jeff. You know, Jeff, I actually have a comp without the nearby "weed" and after you mentioning it, I think I agree, the nearby one should go, mainly because it is cut off and distracting. I'll have to process the other and give it a try. Thanks for your insight!

Howdy Mark- The yellows really pop-especially with the uniform background of the grasses. I also fournd the way you rendered the sun and marine layer just perfect. That haze, with the brown and green/cyan must have been a challenge to portrey faithfully, but it looks like you nailed it. Another great example of a study in subtle lighting.

How DO you keep coming up with these winners, Mark? This is sublime! I'm not bothered in the least by the weed in front. But the cluster of bushes on the right middle seems to grow too dark as it nears the edge of the frame....it loses its integrity and I wonder if its too dark for the scene. It's still very lovely.....I just wonder if I'd like it more with that minor tweak. Just my 2 cents. So how much are you willing to put up for me to buy that printer you were recommending? ;-) I'll email you with questions about that sometime when I have the chance.

Wonderful atmosphere with that fog, and each of the elements is in just the right place. Nicely composed Mark.

Beautiful and peaceful, especially when it is so hot a few miles away. I like the composition and agree with the above comment that the yellow weed on the right should go. Either way it's a beautiful scene.

Thank you Gunnar, Harry, Christal, Floris, Patsy and Pamela. It is hard to see the detail in the flowers with the web version, the one on the right really looks tack sharp at the higher resolution, so I think I will stick with this comp. As far as the bushes, probably not much I can do with them without introducing alot of pixelation. Thanks again!

Hey Mark. I haven't stopped by your portfolio in a while. This one is a beauty. The filtered light creates a wonderful mood which you've captured very well in this photograph. I'm normally not a big fan of man made elements in a landscape photo, but I think the fence works really well here. Great work.

A really complex composition that elicits a sense of balance, somehow!

I really liked the larger version.

I believe this one deserves a fine print.
