the dynamic composition, along with the wonderful exuberance captured, makes for a picture that is felt, that talks to the viewer...

(you may consider invoking some voodoo incantation, or whatever strategy works, and make the disconnected hand disappear)

Delighted to have your comments... to clone or not to clone: that is the question: whether 'tis nobler in the forums to suffer the criticism of photographer fellows or to remove yon offending arm...

not to worry Raj - if the thing is done skillfully, seamlessly, the fierce purist wont notice. And excluding the fanatics, most of your peers would be well disposed to the small transgression - if ever, that is, you were to be found and fully charged with the horrid deceit.

This is an image with lots of creativity and messages. Thank you for your constructive input. Always appreciated. CHINATOWN2 looks better with your upgrade. Warm regards.

Rajat, I like this one more in preference to the B & W version. I see a whip on that protruding hand, perhaps due to myopia:-)

myopia you most certainly don't have... the original photograph was quite handy... lots of 'intrusions'

Rajat, I prefer your color version as this allows the bright and cheerful garments to be emphasized.

A pleasant happy image although I must say there is just a hair too much subject blur than I would like.

I looked at this picture very carefully and I do not agree with the low ratings it received. The image is not technically perfect but I believe that this is its essence, you have captured the soul of that court, his poverty, his humility, and his joy.

Everything is moving so it should be. Excellent cut square you are managed to center the subject an ax to the viewer even the intuition of what is happening.

Congratulations, for me is a beautiful shot.

There're three things in the picture that I wish were not there: the protruding hand on the right, the leg near bottom left and surely the fully burnt out seat. but then, from the original it is clear that one can't do any better. IMHO, on the other hand, the slipper adds to the picture positively and is compatible with the dynamism that is captured (no wonder someone's shoes are off ;-) Also, the rusty pipe (back of the chair) is not a distraction here, thanks to your very apt crop. it somehow guides the eyes into the middle of the picture up to the jumping girl in red pants. In short, i like the photo. very well-done. compliments -koushik

Terrific capture of the moment Rajat. I thnk I would PS out the hand on the right so the concentration of the veiwer is held to only the mother and kids.

Good stuff

All my best,   Bill

Very nice piece of street photography/photo journalism Rajat. I agree with Carlos, however, and would crop out that hand if I were you. Still, great photo, thumbs up.

I will play devil's advocate. Your crop focuses the viewer on the girl in mid air and i like it with the exception of the bright chair at the bottom which I would have darkened.

I think I prefer your uncropped version which gives me a wider view and a better appreciation of the environment. In a way there are elements in the uncropped version that forms a 'natural' framing. In the uncropped version I would have darkened that white chair, lightened the area of the mother and reduced the intensity of the red ribbon in the doorway, added a bit of mid-range contrast.

Can't please everyone and as I said,  I was playing Contrarian.

All the best on a very fine shot,

Bill and Tony A. - i apologize for my tardiness in responding to your comments... thank you for your visits and frank recommendations.

Tony H. - i appreciate the time and effort you have put in on re-working this image. You have brought it to dazzling life with color and tone. You are right about the chair. When i processed these images over a year back i was a novice at photo editing, at using LR. Have learnt a lot since. One of these days i think i will see what my experience yields... regards, rajat
