dgv 1 Posted July 24, 2009 Abbotsbury Swannery conserves the only managed colony of nesting mute swans in the world. Swannery records date back more than 600 hundred years, to times when monks from the Benedictine Monastery of St Peter took advantage of Abbotsbury’s unique situation in order to acquire… swan meat for feasting. Today, there are often 600 free-flying swans on site at any one time and up to 150 pairs may nest on a clearing of only two acres. The swannery is an integral part of nature reserve recognised as a wetland of international importance. It supports a superb variety of wildlife. Link to comment

mcclure 0 Posted July 28, 2009 The border really detracts from the feeling - encloses the scene but it may have been intentional to reinforce the sense of Sanctuary. Consider a solid black border or a single one with a white border instead. It probably me but at f64 this is an Adams. Amazing capture! Link to comment
dgv 1 Posted July 28, 2009 Thanks very much for the advice John. I will upload a couple of other borders tomorrow and you can have a look. Link to comment

Christal1664882414 0 Posted August 19, 2009 Wonderful composition.....I like that you've allowed 2 swans to be prominent in front with the others creating your backdrop. I've learned so much from reading about the travels and experiences of others.....I enjoy that aspect of this site almost as the photography itself. So I really appreciated your explanation about this amazing sanctuary. Link to comment

steve_wagner1 1 Posted September 8, 2010 I would like to see it in natural color. Wonderful subject and fantastic photo but the treatment spoils it a bit for me. Link to comment
