Front wall of an old cinema, now closed. One can still see the traces

of the old neon signs and film posters on the faded wall. What is it

gonna be next?

Preface

I just realized I missed the first initial oppotunity to comment your series from Normandia(?) and Le Mans as I kept low, distant keeping profile while healing my right arm and preparing myself for my Estonian vacancies. Knowing the flexibility of your portfolio I believe and hope some of those photos will re-appear one day. They were of outstanding quality and made me wonder whenever you had any kind of assignment to document those events, or otherwise had access to area hardly not for everybody?

Enough with my rant and back to main thing, to this photo.

Here I feel being on a familiar ground again, though this one hase wider scale than your usual stuff, rather intimate details you spot so well. This could be called a true RGB photo, those splashes against otherwise neutral scene. Juicy silhuoet of the plant on the right pointing to the woman in black. Amazing timing there, her left foot on both the cast shadow of that lamp post as well on those bricks. While car drivers do have their safety bags, this lucky pedestrian has her own virtual one too. All in all I have good time reading photos like this, so thanks for the delivery, Laurent.

I've not been as involved in Pnet lately as in times past, and I regret that that means I've not communicated with you and many others. My loss. What a wonderful image. The young lady is unconcerned with it all. Perhaps the shadow is a giant microphone placed there by some intruding newsman, and she is determined to not pay attention to the intrusion.

Interesting composition. I like a lot the gray BG as a backdrop, framing in blue the FG. All the ellements are very well assembled together, and the story of the woman is to each of the viewer to imagine.I like the dark shadows connecting the woman with lamp and the tree leaves( like an imaginative angle) , vs. the light, the point of the red flowers on the brown sidewalk. Very much " Le Paris" mood, even though it can be other places as well.

Markku, thanks. I hope your arm heals very quickly and that you're as fit as a fiddle soon.

Enjoy your vacation. I'm leaving myself for a three-week holiday with the family tomorrow. As to the photo assignment, I'll leave an answer for you after your comment in the referred to folder. Thanks again.

Drew. Thanks as always. Your visits are always very much appreciated. I can only wish I spent more time on Pnet and pay all our friends here visits more often. You know how much I've liked your stuff since we started out on PNet.

David, so nice to read you again. The old guard together again. Nice having old friends here. You guys made my day.

Andrew, thanks for stopping by and commenting. Glad you like it.

Pnina, thank you so much for visiting despite my rare attendance on the site these days. Actually, this shot was taken in a small industrial town in northern France. All the factories have long closed and the town is in a sorry state now. "Le Paris", the old cinema, has closed and it has been replaced by a larger multiplex in the surroundings of the little town. The premises are waiting for somebody else to take over, but for the time being the place looks quite desolated there, abandoned in the middle of town.

the colors mix, the geometry and pattern creates a king of out-of-time feeling , kind of urban cartoon...the blue rectangle like a goal cage is particularly striking...
