mark_q 0 Posted July 24, 2009 I sensed this view being quite familiar, reminding my observations in Tallinn, and indeed this is alternative presentation of one of your photos, "Backyard" in Old Tallinn folder. You see I happened day before to take a closer look at your older works, since this detection. Your portfolio shows that you are the kind of photographer that loves to return to the locations dear to you, to try find new angles, different mood by changing light etc all this to keep the learning process going, having dedication to photography. So why not give a new chance to earlier upload too? As side remark in general we PN fellows seem to focus so much on just the latest works, though PN has this nice feature picking randomly older works and showing them as thumbnails - but still... On this version you have improved many things, so far so good. The perspective distortion seems to suit this scene and the correction would likely neutralize the mood too much. I would consider applying some gradual toning down/edge burning along the top edge, if only your editing software would allow that. This fine toning trick was/is common in wet darkroom and is meant to keep the image collected so to say. Just so much it won't be obvious, by no means any real vignetting effect, something quite popular here at PN to see. It's mostly the shiny roof of the yellow house, that might need an adjustment mask for this finishing treatment. In case your original is a JPG there may not be any more tonalities to "bring on the table", but it doesn't matter on image of this size, just a reminder about the power of RAW original... ;-) I did mention this edge burning because just recently I have been able to apply it on my own photos by the more powerful software. As a little excercise I loved to invite you to look at my recent uploads to see if you can spot this effect applied to any of them... Link to comment
gunnar1664882369 1 Posted July 25, 2009 Dear all, thank you for your kind words! Thank you, Markku, for your constructive comment! I always appreciate your comments and suggestions, these are very useful. Sometime I look at my older images taken and post-processed 1/2 or year ago, and today I am not very satisfied or I think that it should be edited differently, that is why I sometime return back to an old original and make a new process. Thank you for your time! Regards. Link to comment
