Guest Guest Posted July 19, 2009 Tore, She is a very beautiful girl. You have focused very well on her eyes. You have multiple catch lights, but one seems to be more dominant, which is good. I think her skin tone is very nice. I like her expression and she has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). The background is nicely out of focus. The light acting as a kicker helps separate her hair from the background as well. Her dark jacket covers her bare arms (I assume this is a sleeveless dress) and some of her white dress. This is good -- there is less light area to draw attention away from her face. She could move a little to her right to better balance your photograph. It is a little right heavy. The compositional "rule" for balancing the left and right sides suggests that you place the tip of the nose in the vertical center of the photograph. Because her head is turned a little to her left there will be a little more room on her left side. Generally, you want your subject facing into the picture, not out of it. Do not pose your subject straight on to the camera. This is not a very feminine pose. Showing your subject’s widest areas (shoulder to shoulder or hip to hip) makes those areas appear overly large. Your subject will appear thinner, more feminine and more graceful if turned at an angle to the camera. Her white dress has lost some detail in it. Obviously, her skin is a little over processed. It has taken on a waxy appearance. The clasp of her necklace is in the front. Your main light is coming from her right side casting the shadow from her nose to the side. You should raise your main light to correct this and cast the shadow at a downward angle. You could bring out her eyes even more if she applied mascara on her lower eyelash and eyeliner under her eyes. A little eyeshadow would highlight her eyes, also. Her lipstick and blush appear to have been applied very nicely. Good shot, Mark Link to comment
